What's in a Name? Why Gym Force?
The name Gym Force was a pivotal decision in our short history. It not only had to align with our long-term mission and vision but also represent our customers in a way they deserve. It couldn't be too long (2 syllables max) and had to be easy to explain.
It didn't even need to be catchy. It simply needed to represent our brand that will be built from the ground up.
To come up with this name, I needed a framework.
I imagined the most powerful, respected, highly trained, talented, and exceptional group of people ever assembled. A group that is not only admired but held in high regard by nearly everyone regardless of their background, education, political leanings, or status. I imagined a group of people so physically and mentally impressive that they inspire others to emulate them both in their jobs and personal lives. I imagined a group of people that never have to argue about their competence or ability to do their job. I imagined a group so formidable that any unprovoked attack would result in a swift and certain defeat.
Sidebar: Regarding social media, I'm not unlike most everyone else. I get caught up in reels and the endless scrolling we all claim to despise. My algorithm likes to show me certain things: CrossFit, weightlifting, and jiu-jitsu (obviously), but also F1 videos, people getting hurt (lol sorry), and finally, my biggest rabbit hole - fighter jets! Flybys, sonic booms, Blue Angels, any F22 video, shows of force (google it)... these videos always suck me in way longer than I'd care to admit.
And one day, after about 50 videos, that's when it hit me.
Gym Force. A name inspired by the incomparable United States Air Force.
If ever there were an organization that better represents the core values we hope to emulate, I haven't seen it. To this day, I still run outside every time I hear a fighter jet off in the distance. It's why we all look off in the distance at the end of every national anthem at a sporting event. It's why every time we meet a pilot, we are immediately impressed - kind of like meeting a pro athlete. It's why we love the Blue Angels and Top Gun.
And when shit goes down, there's not another fighting force in the world I'd rather have on my side.
The US Air Force is the organization made up of the best pilots in the world.
Gym Force is home to the best coaches in the world.
Air Force pilots are given everything they need so they can focus on doing what they do best.
They don't fix the planes. Nor do they worry about how much they cost. And they don't need help from Instagram.
Gym Force owners also deserve nothing less than whatever they need to do what they love: coaching.
They shouldn't have to worry about marketing. Nor should they worry about attracting new members. Content creation and social media should be done for enjoyment, not out of necessity.
Pilots of the United States Air Force don't need to tell anyone how good they are. They don't have to. And neither should the amazing coaches of Gym Force.
